Welcome to the official website of the Great Barrington Police Department. On behalf of the men and women of the Great Barrington Police Department, I hope that you find this site useful and informative.
The Great Barrington Police Department is currently made up of seventeen fulltime officers, which includes me and two sergeants. We also have a Parking Control Person. The department has five reserve officers. The Animal Control Officer also falls under the jurisdiction of the Police Department.
Great Barrington’s public safety dispatching is handled by the Police Department, including all 911 calls. We provide twenty-four hour dispatching services for the Great Barrington Fire Department, the Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad and the Department of Public Works.
We’re a regional lockup facility for police departments in New Marlboro, Sheffield, Egremont and Monterey.
The Chief of Police also serves as the Town’s Emergency Management Director, Keeper of the Lockup and Parking Coordinator.
In January of 2017 The Great Barrington Police Department became the first police department in Berkshire County to receive accreditation by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission.
I hope that this website allows you to learn more of what we do and what services we perform for our community. On behalf of all of us we consider it a privilege to “Protect and Serve” a GREAT community.
