In light of the recent violent incidents across the country targeting the Asian population, the Great Barrington Police Department is making a statement of support for the Asian community locally and across the country who are in fear of hate, discrimination and violence.
Our diverse community is a community to be celebrated. We all have a responsibility to stand up and condemn hate and bigotry. We all must remain steadfast in expanding conversations to unite and enrich our community.
“It’s essential for us to continue to build relationships and identify needs so that we have a rapport designed to help foster a deeper dialog. Therefore, I invite our Asian community members to reach out to me for a conversation of understanding,” said Chief Storti.
We will continue to do our part to ensure that Great Barrington is a community where everyone feels safe, accepted, and where diversity is embraced.
Chief Storti said “We want our Asian community to know we are here to support them.”
We want to remind everyone to please call or text 911 to report an emergency.
