The Great Barrington Police Department has been awarded a $20,000 federal Byrne Justice Assistance Grant to fund the purchase of portable radios for its officers.
With the grant, which is administered through the state Executive Office of Public Safety and Security, Great Barrington Police will purchase three radios and ultimately will work to secure as many as 20 new portable radios for officers.
The Great Barrington Police Department was one of only two in Berkshire County to receieve the grant.
The Berkshire Eagle covered the grant award in a story, which you can read here.
